My first 5K
So yesterday (after two weeks of zero workout because I had knee pain) I had my first 5k. I was excited but mostly scared of the pain. I decided to run anyway because well, why not; and if there was any discomfort I’d stopped but at least I had tried
I aimed at a very slow pace, 8:25/km. Which would allow me to do it under 45 minutes.
5:10pm I arrive at the park with my best friends (Joel and Carlota) and boyfriend. Only one of them is running. Everyone’s is all pumped up.
5:40pm they take my car to the finish line and leave me and Joel to warm up. They hug me good luck :O (I’m getting anxious; this needs to start soon)
5:57pm The race begins.
I started a bit faster than my target pace, when I realised this, somewhere between the 1 and 2nd KM I felt relieved to slow down my pace.
After the first KM I started running on the grass and my legs were feeling awesome. The only problem was I felt a bit dehydrated.
Almost 40 minutes into it, Joel comes back from the finish line and joins me to help me finish strong.
About 500m to the finish line some stranger dude was kind enough to give me water. THANK YOU STRANGER for your kindness.
6:38pm I cross the finish line; making it at 41:53 minutes.
The cutest thing was my boyfriend coming to hug and kiss me even though I was all sweaty and wet from my failed attempt at cooling down with a bottled water.
Over all I think it went pretty well. I’m happy.
